The backstory

This recipe was born on one of those chaotic, syrup-sticky mornings with my nephews—when I realized I was tired of just following the Bisquick box directions. I wanted something more, something that felt like love on a plate.

Start with the original Bisquick pancake recipe. The quantities below describe the client’s modifications rather than a complete standalone base recipe.

LET’S MAKE SOMETHING GOOD

The pancakes that made me breakfast champ

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ cup flavor blend made with: 2 Tbsp brown sugar, 2 Tbsp maple syrup, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 Tbsp melted butter, and ½ tsp cinnamon.
  • 2 eggs (as in the base recipe)

Instructions

  1. Replace the base recipe’s 1 cup of milk with ¾ cup milk and ¼ cup of the flavor blend.
  2. Separate the eggs.
  3. Whip the egg whites until fluffy peaks form.
  4. Gently fold them into the final batter and cook using the linked base recipe.

Kitchen notes

Serve with warm maple syrup, fresh berries or sliced bananas, and optional spiced whipped cream.
